COMPETITORS: ARE YOU READY?
The 2018 Ocoee River Championships Downriver Sprint Race on the Upper Ocoee will go from the top bridge of the Olympic Center to the bottom bridge of the Olympic Course.
The downriver race will be a timed race with the fastest time winning so remember: if your not first, you're last.
RULES + REGULATIONS
- Short Boats // Up to or = 9’ long
- Long Boats // Any boat longer than 9’
RULES FOR RACING
- All paddlers competing in the race must wear an approved PFD + helmet.
- All boats are required to have appropriate flotation.
- All kayaks must have a secure sprayskirt.
- Boats may not have rudders

EARLY REGISTRATION FEE* $40 + EACH EVENT ENTERED $10
Early Registration Fee thru August 15, 2018. After August 15 - $60 + $10 each event registered.
*Includes T-Shirt, entrance to party Friday and Saturday, beer/beverage ticket, and some cool swag.
The original whitewater kayaking event, which became popular in Europe first, soon gained traction in the USA and Canada. The first world championships were organized in Switzerland in 1949, and subsequently held every two years since, with the world’s best compete at the World Championships.
Racing is typically done as a time trial with 1 minute intervals between races to give them a clean course. Course lengths varies from river to river but typically sprints will last 1-2 minutes while long races can range from 10-30 minutes.
